Escher’s Knot fans rejoice. The Chennai/Bengaluru-based progressive death metal band have released their latest single The Grand Design from their upcoming album. To say that this track sounds massive would be quite the understatement- song structure that is immensely technical, time signatures that are complex as fuck, guitarists Anshuman Mishra and Siddhartha Ramanathan have riffs that are insanely groove-oriented and the drum patterns courtesy Manu Krishnan are simply phenomenal - rolls, blast beats, everything. The drum roll at 03:16 is perhaps the most intense part of this insanely sharp-edged track. While Abijith Rao has done a tremendous job on vocals, this is one of the songs where Madhav Atyachit’s bass guitar can be heard distinctly. Record specialist Anupam Roy has mastered the track to give it a finesse.
