If you’ve always wanted to dance but have had trouble choosing between learning belly dance or freestyle, the girls from Naach are freeing you from the decision making. You can learn to groove to both and more at the upcoming month-long dance workshops at The Hive. Nicole Concessao and Sonal Devraj two dance enthusiasts who have devised the perfect summer dance course for both kids and adults to shake their hips to in rhythm and never feel like frigid poles as dance parties. You could learn Bollywood, hip-hop, belly dance and freestyle. But beyong just finding your inner groove, the classes also promote fitness. “It’s about working out in the best possible way - through dance. You have fun, sweat it out and learn with us. Every class will have a theme and will be different from the other so that it’s always exciting and new,” says Concessao.
Both Concessao and Devraj bring their varied dance forms to Naach. Where Devraj is trained in Bharatnatyam and Belly dance, and has possesses a great dexterity for doing the perfect headstand, Concessao has been a student of Kathan and Jive for many years. The duo first met in college, where they took part in multiple dance festivals and even made it to the dance reality show on TV called “Yeh Hai Jalwa.”
Naach, for them, is about transformation “from being lazy to energetic, unhealthy to fit, boring gym to super fun routines and of course unsure about oneself to confidence. Dance had changed us and allowed us to open ourselves to endless possibilities, we want the same for everyone out there,” says Concessao.
  • The Naach classes commence from April 15 and will go on till May 11, 2014. There will be two batches, one for kids and adults and will be held thrice a week. For more details on registration and timing, visit the event page here.
