There are plenty of reasons to love the fantastic Mekaal Hasan Band. The Lahore-based, Punjabi Sufi rockers have been regaling audiences around the globe with their unique sound that is based in Hindustani-classical, prepped with jazz and rock influences and lyricism that narrates folk tales and Sufi songs of the region. The two-album-old band last came to India in 2011 to shoot for the Tehelka’s Music Project. The band will now be returning to India to play their first multi-city tour in January 2013 covering Ahemdabad, Mumbai, Delhi and Jaipur.
Mekaal Hasan Band were earlier supposed to play a similar tour of India in 2010, when citing visa issues, the tour was canceled.
