Is there anything these guys don’t do in style? Last year as the Indian music programming giants Only Much Louder turned a decade old, they turned a forgotten South Mumbai’s theater into their own setting to announce the headlining acts of the year at perhaps India’s only successful music festival, Bacardi NH7 Weekender. This year they carried out a secret mission at a “Secret Service Party” that they hosted last night, turning Bandra gastropub Bonobo into a speakeasy, enticing us with this teaser video. The “secret” was the promise of revealing the headlining act for the Pune edition of the festival. The secret is now out and it says dance.
Brit dance music duo Chase & Status will be performing at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender, Pune that is scheduled between October 18 to 20, 2013. Saul Milton (Chase) and Will Kennard (Status) are two albums old and have collaborated with the likes of funk messiah Cee Lo Green, Brit rapper Plan B, R&B princess Rihanna and singer/songwriter Example amongst others. The duo have headlined festivals like Glastonbury, Download, Rokslide and Leeds to name a few. To commemorate the scale of their headlining acts (they promise to announce more in a run up to the festival), a new stage called the Bacardi Arena has been added to their earlier existing stages.
Even though the venue is yet to be announced, ticket sales for the festival will go on sale tomorrow and will be a capacity festival of 9,000 people, as opposed to 15,000 that the organizers managed to pack in last year. Besides Pune, Bacardi NH7 Weekender will be returning to Delhi (Nov 30 - Dec 1, 2021) and Bengaluru (Nov 23 and 24, 2013), and will also be coming to Kolkata (Dec 14 and 15, 2013).
Other headlining acts already announced include American prog rockers MUTEMATH (Delhi), Dutch metallers Textures (Pune, Kolkata), Brit metal act TesseracT (Bengaluru), Swedish metallers Meshuggah (Delhi), Latin world music legend Manu Chao (Pune), dance music artists like Benga (Delhi), Michal Menert (Delhi, Kolkata) and Simian Mobile Disco (Pune).
