Seagram’s 100 Pipers India Music Week

India Music Week is the brainchild of the late Amit Saigal, founder of Rock Street Journal (RSJ), and was a response to the need to consolidate the nascent Indian Independent Music Industry through a sustainable platform that provides an interaction with the global marketplace. Festival gigs showcase emerging and established talent, while a simultaneously held annual conference creates a forum through which music professionals and industry insiders can address present issues and look at collective empowerment.

This year’s edition of 100 Pipers India Music Week (IMW) will be hosted in Mumbai in the first week of December. The showcase festival gigs are in association with The Blue Frog, Mumbai, and will host some exciting national and international acts, including big names such as Jaga Jazzist (Norway), Success (France), Supersonics (Kolkata), and Soulmate (Shillong), among many others.

Line up -

PINKNOISE is an experimental rock band from Kolkata, formed in 2006. The quartet comprises members of popular Kolkata rock act Skinny Alley. The band’s music blends various influences including nu-jazz and electronica. They released a live album called Quirkwork in 2009 that was recorded at a gig in their home city. In 2010 they released Dance Of Diaspora. The band consists of Jay (vocals), Amyt (guitars, synth), Babascience (bass) and Jiver (drums, percussions). Jay, Amyth and Jiver are also members of Kolkata rock act Skinny Alley.

Zoo is an alt-rock band from Kolkata. The band comprises of Tanya Sen (vocals, percussion), Bodhisattwa Ghosh (keys, guitars), Prosanto Mohato (bass) and Rohit Nandi (drums). The band released their debut album The Attic Sessions in July 2012.

Samsaya just released her new single ”Stereotype” from the upcoming album “Bombay Calling”, produced by Roc Nation-producer Fred Ball. She recently cut a world-wide deal with BMG Chrysalis. Samsaya or Sampda Sharma by birth, was born in Hamirpur, North-India. She lived in India with her family and moved to Oslo, Norway at the age of eleven months. Growing up she was influenced by hip-hop. She appeared with her first band at the age of nineteen.

Madboy/Mink are a Funk - Nu Disco duo based in Mumbai, India. Mashing up Dirty Electro and Funk with old school Harlem swing they use Live guitar + synthesizers + soulfully destroyed vocals and vocoders to play a mod – nu disco anti aesthetic. MADBOY/MINK is less than half a year old and has been touring and playing intense high-energy sets across the country.

Success - Some might call it a Divine mash up of electro-rock, Success portrays streaks of influences from Stooges to Run DMC and AC/DC to Kraftwerk, creating a very distinct sound that can be largely claimed as Success’ own. With lead vocalist Mister Eleganz along with accompanying guitars and drums, Success has indeed been successful in touring all over the world as a truly unique Artist.
